Frequently Asked questions regarding laboratory accreditation and staff experience
Q: Is CRBI accredited?
A: Yes, the lab is inspected and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JACHO) every two years. In alternate years, the lab undergoes a self-inspection using Joint Commission guidelines.
Q: Are CRBI laboratory staff certified?
A: Yes, staff are encouraged and supported in their efforts to become certified by the American Board of Bioanalysts (ABB) as Technical Supervisors (TS) in the specialty of andrology and/or embryology when they have acquired the laboratory skills associated with each specialty. Certified staff participate in continuing education opportunities locally and nationally to maintain their certification.
Q. Is the laboratory director certified?
A: Yes, Dr. Carole Wegner is certified by ABB as a high complexity lab director (HCLD). This is the highest level of certification offered by ABB and required by federal law (CLIA 1988). In addition, Dr. Wegner has over 20 years of experience in reproductive biology.
Q: Does the lab participate in proficiency testing programs?
A: Yes, the lab participates in two proficiency testing services: the American Association of Bioanalysts Proficiency Testing Service and WSLH Proficiency Testing Service. The lab also performs proficiency testing in the lab on every procedure in clinical use.
